Be One With Infinity

Through Yoga and Meditation

As a beginning yoga student, I have found the practice of Yoga and Meditation to be a very rich and rewarding experience. There is nothing like the practice and study of the Eastern ways to help oneself to become in touch with a higher existence, and this can be a great solace and salvation during trying times. I have started the study of Hindu in addition to this, and as I read them, I will post recommended reading. In the meantime, here are some resources here in Pittsburgh I have found quite valuable.

The Yoga and Meditation Center of Romra

Robert Mayer is the Horseback Riding Instructor that teaches Yoga, or the Yoga instructor that teaches riding. Actually, he runs a Yoga studio on the grounds in which he teaches riding. He is a very enlightened man with extensive background in Kundalini Yoga. He offers classes in asanas (beginning class in basic yoga postures with relaxation), pranayama (breathing), and meditation. This is where I used to go for my classes, and I highly recommend it.

Mandala Books

This is an excellent bookstore in the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh. This store has a very positive atmosphere that is comfortable and condusive to study and learning. Every Thursday evening at 7:30, they hold the "Life in Balance" series, presented by Steve Sciulli and Ami Stone. This is a session which involves trance induced meditations using music and guided imagery to achieve total relaxation. This is a recent discovery, but is something I will be participating in often, and I highly recommend this, also.
